After spotting this fabulous yarn at my local hobbycraft I was busting to get some nice colours and work on a few projects ! I used to knit every night religiously, and found it so relaxing but never found myself able to complete all the projects I started. When someone said to me that crochet is not only faster but if you use a chunky yarn you can have something finished quite quickly I knew I had to teach myself how to crochet.
When you visit the boodles yarn website you are overwhelmed by the massive choice of projects.. ahh the choices.. after a long browse I finally decided on the Sophie Bag. You can check out a load of their patterns here.
Armed with 2 of my favourite colours, mustard and grey, a lovely set of bamboo handles, a wooden crochet needle I set to work on my new bag.
This project took me a few days to complete - having only a few evenings where I had some time to sit and crochet. I also got stumped on a few bits of the pattern - I have only just taught myself to crochet. But my answer to that - is google google google. Luckily enough I was able to find some youtube videos that guided me through to the end.
I was hoping to give this one as a gift but as its a bit rough around the edges, I think I may just give another pattern a go. I think I worked a few extra rounds and made it a bit long - but hey, it now makes a great bag to take to a dinner party and doubles as a wine bottle carrier :)
Can't wait to make something in mustard. Henry has now asked me if I can make him a blue and red spiderman bag for his teddy. hmm. Will add that one to the neverending To-Do list.
You can pick up some Boodles Yarn from your local Hobbycraft store or online for £6 a roll.
